And She Was Afraid of the Big Bad Wolves

Let me introduce our charming niece, Mia, who lives in northeast with her Mom, Dad, 2 dogs, and 2 cats. A year and a half before the date of the picture she was afraid of dogs. She came to visit us when I had a litter of puppies. Our thought was that with the puppies they would be less intimidating and that would reduce her fears. As well while she was here she had to deal with the 10 plus Afghan Hounds on the lower level of our house milling around. This is also the location of our kitchen and family activities. So not only do you have to deal with the hounds, you have to do it while you are eating. And, of course, they never have had handouts. A smart person learns to say 'NO' quickly. This little one even picked up on my getting after the Afghans for any scratching. After returning home her mom overheard her in the other room saying in a loud voice “GOLDIE, stop scratching”.

Here she is with her black Labrador, Klondike, demonstrating how much she had overcome her fears of the big dogs. Typical of a Lab, his best game is fetch and also typical of a sporting dog, he is very high energy. The other picture is the Afghan in residence giving the Lab the business. She is a typical Afghan Hound, and keeps everyone entertained with her comedic antics.
